Tags This is the page about adding tags to the text in the article_body field when preparing articles to be uploaded into the database. It is the basis and the core of everything which follows.
Add Articles

Articles are added to the database using this form. Such styling as occurs when the articles are presented to users is done with style sheets at the other end of things. Nonetheless some HTML has to be provided on this form. See here for further information.

Below is the form used to add articles to the database.

add article graphic

The first three fields are drop down menus which you choose one item from; one category (magazine, editorial or article) and one author, and one subject..

The magazine date is the first day of the relevant month. The date format is YYYY-MM-DD; thus, 2010-01-01 is Ist Jan 2010 and 2010-10-01 is 1st Oct. 2010.

Next is the Title field. Type or paste this in.

Article Caption can be the first two or three paragraphs of the article or a summary of its contents. When the user sees this field it will display a "Read Full Article" link which will call up the whole of the article from the database. That will be hard-coded. In the meantime paste whatever seems appropriate into this field.

The last field, article_body, is where the whole article should be pasted, including any paragraphs which may have been given to the article_caption field.

Index Of Articles

When articles have been added to the database they will sometimes need to be edited or deleted. That is done from here.

Deletion is immediate. complete and irreversible. Click the link and the article is gone.

Editing is not so final. What has been uploaded to the database can be edited. What has been edited can be re-edited.

Viewing the articles shows the effect of adding or changing HTML Tags. It can show up errors in the use of those tags, which can be corrected in the Edit facility. This is not how the articles will look to end-users (there is a Cascading Style Sheet intervening which will fine tune the look of the tagged elements).

Editing Articles editing articles
The form above is used to edit articles, adding to or deleting from the text, changing the HTML Tags, correcting spelling, grammar. Any changes at all.
